It was winter and pretty rough in between the heads, so the dolphins weren't so easy to find, but we did see quite a few. And all the other bits of Akaroa nature were also shown and explained and the captain of the boat (Stew) was VERY nice. All in all a good experience

A good experience. The day was a bit breezy, but we saw everything as advertised. The crew were informative about all the wildlife we saw, and friendly. The Hector's dolphins were a delight, swimming around the boat with some lucky (if cold) snorkellers from another boat getting to see them even closer.

Awesome! We had a great time and would highly recommend this tour for any one. We saw Hector dolphins, seals, penguins. George did a great job telling history and geology of the area. Family owned by a family that has lived in the area for generations.

Awesome up-close view of unique wildlife

This dolphin cruise on a smaller boat was awesome! The tour left from the same dock where our cruise ship tender docked. We had great seats/views from the front of the boat where we saw many dolphins. The guide knew just where to look; his family has been in Akaroa for generations. We saw so many of the playful little Hector's dolphins that I have one picture with 5 in the same frame. They loved racing and jumping in front of the boat. We also saw some fur seals and several varieties of birds. We found the people of the small town of Akaroa to be incredibly friendly and helpful. We would love to return some day. Make sure you include this tour in your itinerary when you visit this lovely place.
