Firstly, South Island is absolutely stunning and I recommend visiting it, especially Queenstown. As far as this tour goes, there are a few things that were disappointing - The drive from Christchurch to Queenstown was pretty but there seemed to be a lot of stops at souvenir stores and came across more as a way for the company to make additional money vs. give the tourists a good experience. The driver was not engaging. - When we arrived in Queenstown, it was late in the evening and though the voucher said the drop off would be at our hotel, we were dropped off about a 5 min walk away and it was very painful in a new town with huge suitcases. - The tour committed to stay in a hotel Overnight Accommodation: Heartland Hotel Queenstown or similar but we were in fact kept up in a motel Amity. The showers had mold, there was no shampoo provided. It was definitely not a hotel! - The last day of the tour is a return back to Christchurch and it is simply an exact repeat of Day 1 absolutely NO changes though the description reads slightly different so do not be fooled. It was a complete waste of a day and we got the same driver who was not engaging at all so we simply slept through the entire trip. I wish I could get my money and time back!! Overall, if you are visiting NZ and this is your tour of choice, I'd recommend instead doing 4 days in Queenstown and then booking day trips to Mt Cook and Milford sound instead. It will save you days on your vacation and you can take the money and do cooler things in/around Queenstown alone!
