We were met by our guide for the day. He had just returned from 24 years or so in Germany, and while originally from NZ, he was behind the curve. At every stop he just let us go off on our own, so we did not benefit from any local knowledge of the sites wee visited. In essence, we had a very expensive taxi driver. The Maiori Rock Carvings on Lake Taupo were a disappointment. All in all, a very bad day.
