Great tour.. well worth the drive round the bays, and visiting the hobbit's wood. Weta was definately a highlight.

Exceptional service

Thank you Phil, for the best-ever experience. With all the uncertainty currently being felt by the tourism industry and the wider community, we found ourselves being the only ones on the tour. As I am (slowly) recovering from surgery and use crutches, we were able to do the tour at my pace. Both my daughter and I were kept entertained by Phil’s enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of humour. This tour has certainly made us want for more. Rest assured we will be doing the full day tour on our next visit to New Zealand This tour was the highlight of our Trip.

There certainly is a lot of concern within the tourism industry right now, but hopefully with the help of your kind review, once this is all over we can get back to doing what we do best!
Middle Earth visited

Informative. Fun. Would do it again. When out on location, it was great because the guide had a tablet and could show us the exact scene in the movie.

Hopefully we can see you on tour again!
Great for Lord of the Rings fans

So cool to see the forest location for many of the Lord of the Rings filming sites. Guide showed photos from the movies at each location. The WETA tour was incredible. This is the special effects company for many movies including LOTR.

Delighted you enjoyed yourself!
Nothing Spectacular
, Mar 2020
Expected extraordinary scenery but just some spots in the forest indistinguishable without accompanying photos. Weta studios tour was okay but nothing worth a second visit.

Hi Ken, Sadly for us, every single filming location [except Hobbiton] in New Zealand was returned to its natural state once they completed the filming of the movies. This was mainly for the environment's sake but also no one knew how much of a success these films would prove to be! Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself.

A must for Hobbit lovers
, Feb 2020
We were picked up by Nathan from our cruise ship on time and were quickly moving through Wellington. He was very personable, full of local insights and as he’d been an extra on Lord of the Rings and on the red carpet for the Hobbit he clearly knows his stuff. We enjoyed the visit to the forest to see film locations and the views from high above Wellington were beautiful. The Weta Tour is interesting, the guide very informative - sadly because of copyright restrictions photos aren’t allowed but you see some terrific props. Nathan also dropped us in town very helpfully pointing out where the cruise ship shuttle bus stopped. Highly recommended - especially for LOTR fans.

Thanks for your feedback, John! Nathan is actually part of the management team here so is very pleased to know that his enthusiasm and knowledge haven't waned over the years of being in the office!
Wellington half day tour
, Feb 2020
I found it very expensive to see a forest where the lord of the rings was filmed and a small sample of weta cave, very expensive for what little they offer
icon Response from Host , Feb 2020
Hi Ruben, Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your tour with us. The forest we visit in home to some of the most iconic film locations from the Lord of the Rings movies. Obviously not identical to the films but unfortunately nowhere [apart from Hobbiton] has anything left from the films. Our visit to the Weta Workshop includes the behind-the-scenes DVD and Workshop tour, which is almost all that Weta offer. They don't allow tour groups through the actual Workshop as they are currently working on new projects that are not allowed to be seen by public eyes. Thanks, Rover Rings Tours
